What Grass is the Best for the West?
Out of all the grasses that grow in Denver's semiarid climate, we at Green Valley Turf Co. like Kentucky bluegrass the best.  For a beautiful deep-green lawn, bluegrass produces a fine, soft texture turf that can stand up to hard use and heavy traffic. Because bluegrass spreads very aggressively to bare areas and has upright, uniform leaves, it creates a dense carpet-like lawn. Bluegrass is a highly durable sod forming grass due to its rhizomes that grow horizontally and produce new grass plants.

High quality deep green in color, bluegrass has a excellent tolerance to heat and cold. Bluegrass also is very drought resistance and will go dormant rather than die when not watered for extreme periods in heat. If you are planning on spending much time on your lawn, bluegrass all around out performs other grasses in high use areas over time.

RTFtm  is a new sod forming grass. Each plant has roots that grow down plus horizontal roots called rhizomes that spread and grow new plants. Picture      Unlike like other Tall Fescues, RTF has the ability to repair itself. Traditional tall fescues grasses will clump together, not filing in the bare spots and producing an uneven lawn. With bare sports, weeds are more apt to take over the lawn.

What make RTF unique is its ability to fill in these open areas with rhizomes. Young plants first build the root and shoot system to sustain life; then concentrate on a bare area of lawn with rhizomes, knitting the lawn together.

RTF's rapid germination ensures quick establishment of you new lawn. While overseeding an existing lawn, the quick germination allows RTF to complete successfully with the old turf, eliminating the clumps and bare spots forever.
